Financials
The Hattiesburg Convention Commission is funded through state legislation, which authorized a special 2% tax on restaurants and package liquor sales to provide funds for construction, furnishing and operation of the Hattiesburg convention and tourism facilities. This legislation does not have a sunset clause, which allows for both the continued development and operations of Hattiesburg’s convention and tourism facilities as well as future economic growth.
This tax funding is a critical component to maintaining and improving the attractions and projects managed by the HCC, and it is a responsibility met with transparency and accountability. The HCC Commissioners and leadership activities are measured and monitored to ensure strict adherence to the law. Commission meeting materials, audits and annual reports are posted regularly in a steadfast commitment to sharing information with the taxpayers of the Hattiesburg region.
