100 Years and Counting! African American Women in the Suffrage Movement
Hattiesburg (February 25, 2020) – The Sixth Street Museum District and the Historic Eureka school in partnership with the USM Center for Black Studies and the City of Hattiesburg 19th Amendment Celebration Committee will be hosting 100 Years and Counting! This event will be held on Friday, March 13, from 10:00 a.m until 12:30 p.m.
This program is designed to commemorate the ratification of the 19th Amendment of the United States Constitution which granted most American women the right to vote in 1920. It will also highlight the accomplishments of African American women and others who remain invisible in the history of the women’s suffrage movement.
